Introducing Mert and Jane (Cameron)!

Imagine this: August 1950. The UN has decided it must insert itself in the rising conflict happening on the Korean Peninsula. The United States sends in its reserves. This includes: Mert, a Marine Corps Captain (aviation). (He volunteered.) (Jane does not like this.) (Jane is Mert’s wife.) (Oh, wait.)

Imagine this: March 1947. Mert and Jane meet! And then! Imagine this: September 1947 (SIX MONTHS LATER!). Mert and Jane get married! Yay!!!

Fast forward: August 1950. They are living in Los Altos, California. (They’re renting.) Mert is a law student at Stanford University (Owen Wilson Voice: “Wow.”); he’s also in the Marine Corps reserves. Jane is working as a secretary at Stanford for some guy who she really doesn't like working for. (His name was literally Faust.) (Like the guy with the demon.)

Let’s be clear: Jane is the current breadwinner. She is supporting Mert's schooling. She cannot wait to be a stay-at-home housewife.

What happens next will shock you. (Or not.)

It’s August 1950 and Mert has volunteered to cross an entire ocean to be a part of a war effort for an undetermined amount of time to defeat the communists in Korea. Before leaving, they promised to write a letter to each other every single day.
